Q:

Why do you avoid using wheat, gluten, dairy, corn, soy, yeast, sugar and peanuts?

A:

Not only do we believe that avoiding these ingredients and replacing with healthy alternatives is a truly clean, pure way of eating, these foods are also the most common foods people have intolerances to. An intolerance to one or many of these foods can cause inflammation in the body and manifest in many different ways from digestion issues to skin conditions to headaches to chronic pain. In order to be certain of what the food intolerance is, you must avoid the food and any derivatives of that food completely for at least 2 weeks (often referred to as an Elimination Diet), which can be very difficult. We want to provide you delicious and easy foods to enjoy while you venture on this journey. We also want to provide options for people with Celiac Disease who cannot digest gluten, for children following the Gluten-Free Casein-Free diet for Autism and for anyone following any type of detox diet.

Q:

You use some ingredients I have never heard of. Can you please provide more information on these items?

A:

Yes, we use specialty ingredients that are not only healthy, but fit within our clean standards while not compromising flavor:

  • Sorghum Flour: A gluten-free millet-like grain, it is one of the oldest grains and is a major food source in Africa and India. Sorghum is also high in insoluble fiber. The protein and starch in sorghum are more slowly digested than other cereals, which can result in a lower glycemic response.
  • Arrowroot Starch: Arrowroot received its unusual name because the root of this South American plant was used in the treatment of poisoned arrow wounds. The plant is naturalized in Florida, but it is chiefly cultivated in the West Indies, Australia and Southeast Asia.
  • Guar Gum: Derived from the seeds of the guar plant, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, which grows in India and Pakistan, guar is all-natural unlike other common thickeners such as modified food starch and cellulose gum (CMC). Guar gum provides 80% soluble dietary fiber - more soluble fiber than other sources such as oat or wheat bran. Numerous studies have shown that the consumption of Guar Gum lowers serum LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and increases glucose tolerance.
  • Raw Agave Nectar: A low-glycemic, natural liquid sweetener made from the extract of the wild agave cactus plant.

Are your items prepared in a Gluten-Free/Allergen Free facility?

A:

Although our products are manufactured in facilities that also process wheat and other allergens, very careful precautions are taken to avoid cross-contamination. For example, our crusts are prepared on dedicated days in which only gluten-free products are produced after all equipment has been thoroughly cleaned and dedicated gluten-free mixers are used. Our products are prepared separately from others, so any products which do contain wheat or other allergens will not be started until after our products are completed. And of course, we only use naturally gluten-free ingredients.

Are your products Organic?

A:

While our crusts are not 100% Organic, they do contain the following organic ingredients: Organic Brown Rice Flour, Organic Raw Agave Nectar and Organic Olive Oil. Our pizzas are approximately 70% organic - using the same organic ingredients as in the crusts as well as organic ingredients for all produce ingredients used for the sauces and used for toppings.

Are your products Vegetarian or Vegan?

A:

Yes, all of our products have been Certified Vegan by The Vegan Awareness Foundation. This certification ensures that no animal products or by-products are used in our products and no animal testing is performed.

What is the shelf-life of your products?

A:

All products are shipped frozen and should be stored frozen upon receipt and will have a shelf-life of up to 9 months. The crusts will last about 2 days at room temperature (note: they do not need to be thawed prior to baking). We do not use any artificial preservatives.

How are products shipped?

A:

Most products are shipped within 1 day of your order. All products are shipped via UPS via Signature Release (allowing the shipment to be left at your door without signature) and will be in transit 1-3 days. They are shipped frozen with dry ice and and should be placed in your freezer as soon as possible. Products do not need to be thawed prior to baking. You may request Express Shipping or request to have them shipped with Signature Required by contacting us at customerservice@cleancravings.com or calling us at: 1.888.623.6776, Option 3. To ensure products are not held over the weekend, your order may not be able to be shipped on Thursdays or Fridays depending on the destination. Please see our Shipping Policy for more details.

What is your Return Policy?

A:

For the safety of our customers Clean Cravings does not re-sell any returned items, regardless of their condition. Therefore, all sales are final. Are your products sold in any stores?

A:

In addition to being able to purchase directly from our Shop page, our products are currently sold at Treasure Island Foods in Chicago, IL (a 7-store chain), Chase Foods in Jacksonville, FL, Global Cardio Care in Los Angeles, CA and on The Gluten-Free Mall.
